The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has proposed easing regulations for foreign citizens working in the Far East and the Arctic. According to the proposal, migrants who have signed an employment contract with residents of priority development areas in these regions are planned to be exempted from the requirement to pass an exam on the Russian language, Russian history, and the basics of legislation.
According to the draft document prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this initiative was put forward to attract investment and accelerate the socio-economic development of the regions. This is intended to create favorable conditions for employers and attract foreign labor to these areas.
It should be noted that currently, in accordance with Russian legislation, foreign journalists and migrants who have received a work permit based on a quota are exempt from submitting documents confirming their knowledge of the Russian language, history, and the basics of legislation.
If the proposed changes are approved, the procedure for processing documents for foreigners employed in the Far East and the Arctic will be simplified. This innovation could be of significant importance for migrants from Uzbekistan who are working in these regions or planning to go there.
