During inspections conducted by officers of the Russian Interior Ministry's Balahta-Novoselovo department, a case of illegal migration was uncovered. A 47-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk is accused of registering 5 foreign citizens in a private house he owns, which is dilapidated and unfit for habitation.
It was determined that during the current summer season, the suspect used electronic services to register these 5 migrants for temporary residence in an uninhabitable house in the village of Chulim. In reality, the foreigners did not plan to live at this address; the registration was only necessary for them to stay legally in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against this individual under Article 322.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fictitious registration of a foreign citizen at the place of stay). According to this article, the perpetrator could face up to 5 years in prison.
For the migrants, this situation could lead to serious consequences. When cases of fictitious registration are identified, there is a possibility that the foreigners' residence permits will be revoked and their stay in Russia declared illegal. Therefore, foreign citizens are advised to use only actual residential addresses when processing their documents.
