Ruble exchange rate becomes unstable in Russia: factors affecting migrant income

The fluctuations observed in the Russian currency market have led to the dollar exchange rate changing from 81 to 87 rubles within a month. Currently, the rate has exceeded the 85-ruble mark, and experts explain this situation by the decrease in market liquidity and the budget deficit.

Economist Alexander Razuvaev notes that the shift of currency trading to the over-the-counter segment of the Moscow Exchange is causing sharp price changes. Also, currency purchases by the Russian Ministry of Finance and high government spending are among the main factors putting pressure on the devaluation of the ruble.

According to expert forecasts, the dollar exchange rate is expected to be around 90–100 rubles by the end of 2026. To speak of stability in the currency market, daily fluctuations should not exceed 1 ruble for the dollar and euro, and 20–30 kopecks for the yuan.

In these economic conditions, financial analysts recommend not making hasty decisions and keeping funds in bank deposits. Also, amid high inflation and exchange rate volatility, some professionals are considering opportunities to continue their activities in cities such as Tashkent, Astana, Almaty, or Baku.
