Singer Nargiz Zakirova stated in her personal blog that she considers the USA, not Uzbekistan, to be her homeland. The artist emphasized that she had taken events related to her historical homeland painfully and felt betrayed. According to her, although this situation caused her great suffering at first, she has now left it all behind and is focusing on her life in the USA.
Zakirova noted that she has a warm attitude towards the people of Uzbekistan and considers them wonderful people. However, in the singer's opinion, the concept of a homeland should be based on mutual love. She moved to the USA with her parents in 1995 and obtained American citizenship.
Recall that Nargiz Zakirova became widely known after participating in the Russian show "Golos" in 2013. After the events in Ukraine began, she openly criticized the actions of the Russian authorities. Following this, she was officially banned from entering the Russian Federation for a period of 50 years — until 2072.
