The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has removed the international electronic money system «Zolotaya Korona» from its registry. This decision was made based on a corresponding application from the system operator — the Russian organization «Platezhny Tsentr» (RNKO), based in Novosibirsk.
«Zolotaya Korona» had been registered in Kyrgyzstan since June 30, 2016, and had been operating for over 10 years. Currently, further official clarifications are expected regarding how the removal of this system from the registry will affect its operations and service procedures within Kyrgyzstan.
It should be noted that the operator of «Zolotaya Korona», the «Platezhny Tsentr» organization, was included in the sanctions list on July 23, 2024, as part of the European Union's 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions. This decision was made just two months after the sanctions were imposed.
Migrants working in Russia and sending money home are advised to consider the potential limitations on financial services that these changes may cause.
