The number of Uzbek students studying in Russian universities has exceeded 26 thousand

According to RIA Novosti analysis, more than 200,000 foreign students arrived at Russian higher education institutions for study purposes in the first half of 2026. Uzbekistan ranked third in this indicator.

According to statistics, more than 26,000 students from Uzbekistan went to study at universities in the Russian capital and other regions. Kazakhstan leads the list with nearly 47,000 students, followed by China with 42,500. The top five is rounded out by representatives from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

A significant increase in the number of students from Azerbaijan has also been observed. Russian authorities plan to increase the total number of foreign students in the country to half a million in the future.
