Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to establish a system for adapting foreign workers to the living and working conditions in the country. Within the framework of this initiative, special attention will be paid to migrants learning the Russian language and strengthening integration processes.
The President emphasized that the countries from which the labor force originates are also interested in launching joint training programs. To organize this process effectively, there are plans to increase the number of Russian language teachers.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry, there are currently between 6 and 6.5 million foreign citizens in the country, of whom 3 million are migrant workers and 1.7 million are their family members. Every year, about 9 million foreigners enter Russia for various purposes.
Furthermore, according to a law adopted in August of this year, foreigners with an unexpunged or outstanding criminal record are prohibited from staying in Russia. The documents of such individuals will be revoked, with the exception of refugees and those granted political asylum.
