The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Russia has initiated a proposal to reduce the permitted share of foreign workers in 10 regions of the country. These changes are planned to affect the republics of Mordovia, Tatarstan, and Chuvashia, Krasnodar Krai, as well as the Vologda, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Sverdlovsk, and Tula regions.
Furthermore, it is expected that restrictions on migrant activities will be introduced for the first time in 8 other Russian subjects. Specifically, in Tatarstan, it is proposed to reduce the share of foreign workers to zero in sectors such as finance and insurance, veterinary services, security services, taxis, transportation of hazardous goods, and computer repair. In the Kaluga region, restrictions may be imposed on the employment of foreigners in courier services, transport, and equipment rental.
According to the Ministry of Labor's press service, the document also provides for the retention of regional specifics established for 2026 in 31 subjects. If these proposals are approved, employment opportunities for migrants in the aforementioned sectors may be restricted or completely prohibited.
Compatriots working in Russia are advised to monitor legislative changes in the regions where they are employed and to check for any restrictions in their respective fields of activity.
