Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg Alexander Belsky announced that the issue of banning couriers from riding on sidewalks in the city is being discussed. This initiative is being put forward to ensure pedestrian safety and improve the convenience of urban infrastructure.
Officials emphasize that this ban may apply not only to couriers but also to other individuals using electric bicycles. Currently, the city administration has formed a working group in this area and is studying the experience of Moscow. In particular, the issue of introducing a special traffic rules (PDD) exam for migrants is also being considered.
Representatives of the Saint Petersburg government noted that they are in dialogue with delivery services. If the situation on the city streets requires it, regulations prohibiting movement on sidewalks could officially come into force. Couriers are advised to keep track of these updates during their work and to comply with traffic rules.
