Migrants in Tomsk: Warned about new legislative requirements and liability

A meeting took place at the Migration Center in Tomsk between the heads of the Migration Department of the Regional Interior Ministry and representatives of national-cultural associations. During the meeting, migrants were reminded of the procedures for obtaining Russian citizenship, registering for migration, and engaging in labor activities. Specifically, the necessity of complying with mandatory fingerprinting and photographing procedures, as well as adhering to established deadlines, was emphasized. Detailed information regarding administrative and criminal liability for violations was provided.

Furthermore, the meeting covered current restrictions on the recruitment of foreign labor in the Tomsk region, the tightening of requirements for exams in the Russian language, history, and legislation, as well as opportunities for contract service in the Russian Armed Forces.

In conclusion, the officials recommended that diaspora representatives conduct outreach work among foreign citizens. It was noted that special attention should be paid to respecting the traditions and lifestyles of other peoples, as well as preventing interethnic and interreligious conflicts.
